Hi All and welcome to my blog. My name is Richard O’Callaghan and I am the CEO of the Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants. I have set up this blog as a way to provide ongoing information on the operations of the Institute to our members, and anybody else who might be interested. I will also use it as a place to post items that I think might be interesting or useful to members, students and the public – usually with some connection with accounting or business.
I will kick-off with an announcement, our website has had a revamp. Now this is good news for all sorts of reasons, mainly because of the services that we intend to offer to members and students through the website, and also because the old one was getting a bit long in the tooth (OK a lot long in the tooth). Over the next few months we intend to launch a number of new initiatives, many of which will be based on internet services, and I will be announcing many of them here.
Comments are welcome, but I will be moderating them occasionally so if you post spam or something abusive or inappropriate I will be removing them. Over time it would be exciting to enter into discussions with people on a range of matters such as:
- Where is the IIPA going
- Where is the Accounting and Auditing industry going
- What changes or developments will accountants and finance professionals have to adjust to in the future
- Financial education and training
- The interaction between accounting and information technology
- Internal and external auditing
- etc…etc…etc…
